Las Vegas Review Journal: Lawyer uses Web site to relay crucial rulings

After two decades of practicing law, Las Vegas attorney Tami Cowden finally discovered a way to combine her two passions: writing and legal issues.

Cowden recently started her own Web site, Appealing in Nevada, at www.nevadaappellatelaw.com, where she reports on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. She also describes how proposed legislation would affect Nevada and keeps tabs on the state’s Supreme Court.

A Day in the Life of a Legislative Lobbyist

An old sign in the lobbyist room at the Nevada Legislature reads, “Don’t tell my mom I’m a lobbyist. She thinks I play piano at a whorehouse.” While always worth a good laugh, the sign is not far from the reputation lobbyists have in the public eye. The public’s misperceptions are plentiful about what lobbyists really do and their role in the legislative process. This article will provide a glimpse into what a real day at the Nevada Legislature is like for those working the halls.
