LAS VEGAS – Due to the aftermath of Hurricane Rita and its effects on the Texas Wildcatters professional hockey team, the Las Vegas Wranglers have made a change to their 2005-2006 schedule, adding a home game Nov. 4 and donating $5 for every ticket sold for this game to hurricane relief efforts. And, for each $5 donation made by the Wranglers, the Nevada law firm of Kummer Kaempfer Bonner Renshaw & Ferrario (KKBR&F) will match the amount, donating up to $15,000 for relief efforts.
“We are hoping for a full house,” said Jon Leleu, a KKBR&F attorney who also serves as the Las Vegas Wranglers’ general counsel. “By partnering with the Wranglers for Hurricane Relief Night, we are encouraging our community to come out and enjoy an evening of great hockey, while at the same time, helping support the hurricane victims with much-needed funds as they work to rebuild their lives. I continue to be amazed with the generosity of our local community and hope to write out a check for the entire amount.”
The Nov. 4 matchup between the Phoenix Roadrunners and The Las Vegas Wranglers begins at 7:05 p.m. at the Orleans Arena. Fans may order tickets by phone at (702) 284-7777 or on the Web at www.orleansarena.com or by visiting www.lasvegaswranglers.com. Ticket locations include the Orleans Arena Box Office, Coast Casinos’ showroom box offices at The Orleans, Gold Coast, and Suncoast and at Galleria Mall guest relations and ticket centers.
The Nov. 4 game replaces the Wranglers’ originally scheduled Feb. 10 home game against the Texas Wildcatters. According to the Wranglers, the Wildcatters will not field a team in 2005-2006 due to the aftermath of Hurricane Rita in its home city of Beaumont, Texas.
Earlier this month, the Mississippi Sea Wolves were forced to withdraw from the ECHL when Hurricane Katrina blasted through their home in Biloxi, Miss.
“We’re hopeful that we can turn the new Nov. 4 date into a real contribution to the relief effort,” said Wranglers President and COO Billy Johnson in a previous statement. “Obviously, the impact of those storms to our team and fans is miniscule to what the victims have to endure.”
Ninety percent of KKBR&F’s donation will be given to the American Red Cross, and 10 percent will be provided to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The Las Vegas Wranglers
The Wranglers will open the 2005-06 season at the Orleans Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies. For information on Wranglers season seat packages, call (702) 471-7825 to contact the Wranglers office directly. The Wranglers play all 36 home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Ave. Seat packages to see the Wranglers play at the Orleans Arena for the upcoming 2005-06 season are now on sale, starting as low as $150. Call (702) 471-7825 for more information or visit www.lasvegaswranglers.com.
Though the remaining 35 home dates and times remain unaffected, a handful of opponent changes to the Wranglers’ schedule stem from the loss of the Wildcatters this season, including games against the Alaska Aces and San Diego Gulls on Feb. 7 and 14, respectively. Las Vegas’ road schedule, however, has been scrambled more significantly. The team’s season opener pits the Wranglers against former Las Vegas International Hockey League rival Utah Grizzlies on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7:05 p.m.
