LAS VEGAS – Mark E. Ferrario, one of Nevada’s most successful litigators, has joined Kummer Kaempfer Bonner & Renshaw, becoming a partner in the Nevada law firm.

Michael J. Bonner, in making this announcement, said, “I’m very pleased to announce that Mark E. Ferrario, one of the best litigation attorneys in Nevada, is joining our firm as a partner, effective immediately. Mark brings tremendous litigation and general practice strength to our firm. He’ll be working with partner Tom Kummer to expand and enhance all aspects of our litigation practice. We’re extremely fortunate to have attracted an attorney of Mark’s talents, and we welcome him to our team.”

Ferrario has more than 20 years of litigation experience in the areas of business and commercial litigation. He is a member of both the Nevada and California bar and practices in both jurisdictions. He will work out of KKB&R’s main office at 3800 Howard Hughes Parkway in Las Vegas.

Ferrario is a longtime resident of Las Vegas, where he lives with his wife Tina and his four daughters.

His career highlights include representing a major subcontractor in the MGM Grand and Hilton hotel fire cases in the 1980s, with the MGM Grand case being one of the largest tort cases ever filed in the United States. He was also part of the lead trial team in the $90 million lawsuit that resulted from the 1988 PEPCON chemical plant explosion in Henderson. KKB&R also represented clients in these cases. Ferrario represented Lonnie “Ted” Binion in his lengthy legal battle with Nevada gaming regulators to maintain his gaming license. He represents some of the state’s most prominent businesses and business leaders. Bonner added that Ferrario’s experience in the courtroom and at the negotiating table has consistently resulted in favorable outcomes for his clients.

He has represented the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association during several sessions of the Nevada Legislature, and counts many of Nevada’s most successful homebuilders among his clients.

He earned his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1981 and his undergraduate degree in accounting from UNLV in 1978.

From Suburban Sprawl to Vertical Mania

Wednesday, June 1st, 2005

The Las Vegas Valley is in the midst of explosive growth. Most of that growth is in the form of “suburban sprawl” or development in the suburban areas as opposed to development within the urban core. “Suburban Sprawl” is caused by many factors such as the availability of large tracts of land like those auctioned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) over the last several years and zoning regulations that encourage low-density development. However, as demand exceeds supply, the cost of land in Las Vegas has skyrocketed, making suburban sprawl less economically viable.

Gracefully Hurdling Procedural Issues in Land Use Litigation in Southern Nevada

Wednesday, June 1st, 2005

The state of Nevada, particularly Southern Nevada, is growing rapidly. Every month, over 5,000 people move to Las Vegas. With the influx of people, development is booming. In fact, in Las Vegas, two acres of land are developed for commercial or residential use every day. This rapid growth makes the land use planning process in Southern Nevada extremely important and, in some cases, controversial.
